Fic with an atttitude ahead. Word of the day: bitter
[Author's Note: Again, this has NOTHING to do with the fic term 'lemon'! Again: very bitter G-boys, strong language, icky, dark angsty. Turn around if you're underaged (chyeah, like anyone under 14 would actually *listen* to that anyway...)
Okay, I'm not usually into heavy metal music, my dad listens to this stuff -- I'm just so GW-headed I can find a way to link *anything* to GW! ^_^;;]
It's all or nothing
I want my money back
(Heero and Duo step out of a patch of darkness, both wearing black leather jackets and dark denim jeans)
I want my money back
(Trowa, Quatre, and Wufei appear next, dressed the same as the other two. They all generally look unhappy)
Hey, Oo, hey
Oo, hey, Oo
Hey
(They are thinking of their battles as they walk down a dark street)
And nothing's all I ever get
(They think of how the colonies turned on them)
Everytime I turn it on
I burn it up and burn it out
(Their wasted resolve and dreams of peace)
It's always something
There's always something going wrong
(Again, angry thoughts of their missions)
That's the only guarantee
(Duo mutters, "It's okay, we're used to getting our asses kicked." [EW] )
That's what this is all about
(Quatre adds bitterly, "That's how we can be who we are." [EW] )
It's a never-ending attack
(Wufei mulls over his conscience)
Everything's a lie and that's a fact
(Trowa thinks about his life...his name...)
Life is a lemon and I want my money back!
And all the morons
And all the stooges with their coins
(Heero scowls thinking of Zechs and Treize)
They're the ones who make the rules
(While they finally sort Romefellar from OZ)
It's not a game -- it's just a rout
(They remember being cornered when OZ threatened the colonies directly...)
There's desperation
There's desperation in the air
(...Heero and Quatre recall clearly Wing's self-destruction)
It leaves a stain on all your clothes
And no detergent gets it out
(A different sort of flashback: Duo and Quatre at Singapore, fighting desperately, and without Wufei. They are soon lying in puddles of their own blood, paying the ultimate price and all for nothing)
And we're always slipping through the cracks
(Another different vision: Trowa finally gives in to his despair and messily takes his own life with a throwing knife)
Then the movie's over -- fade to black
(The three shake themselves from their horrible thoughts)
Life is a lemon and I want my money back!
I want my money back
(They continue to stalk down the street, glaring at anyone in their way)
I want my money back
(Yeah, even Quatre)
What about love?
It's defective!
It's always breaking in half
(They think how they loved the colonies enough to want to protect them, only to be betrayed)
What about your family?
It's defective!
All the batteries are shot
(Images of Quatre being berated by his father for his decision to fight; the boy knowing he never did win his father's approval)
What about your friends?
They're defective!
All the parts are out of stock
(Trowa remembering the mercenaries who helped him when he was an orphan were the ones who abused him)
What about hope?
It's defective!
It's corroded and decayed
(Images of Heero witnessing several of Relena's speeches --- and the immediate after effects that mostly led the world deeper into war as Romefellar countered her)
What about faith?
It's defective!
It's tattered and it's frayed
(Images of Wufei right after his swordfight with Treize, showing how he no longer believes he can fight)
What about your Gods?
They're defective!
They forgot the warranty
(Flashback of a younger Duo standing outside the destroyed Maxwell Church, his head thrown back as he screams his anguish)
What about your town?
It's defective!
It's a dead end street to me
(Quatre thinks of the colony he destroyed)
What about your school?
It's defective!
It's a pack of useless lies
(Wufei recalls the scholar's life he gave up to become a warrior)
What about your work?
It's defective!
It's a crock and then you die
(Trowa thinks of his clown act -- bitterly amused that he can make people laugh yet finds no joy himself)
What about your childhood?
It's defective!
It's dead and buried in the past
(A different image: photos each of younger Heero and Trowa, burned at the edges as if lost in a fire)
What about your future?
It's defective!
And you can shove it up your @$$!
(Duo turns, smirks, and gives the one-finger salute)
I want my money back...
Life is a lemon
I want my money back...
Life is a lemon
Life is a lemon
It's all or nothing
And nothing's all I ever get
Every time I turn it on
I burn it up and burn it out
(They have all closed their hearts to caring, letting their lives be no more than pawns in the game of warfare)
It's a never-ending attack
(They all think, 'This war will continue for all time')
Everything's a lie and that's a fact
(All their blood, sweat, and tears add up to nil)
Life is a lemon and I want my money back!
(They stop at an innocuous door. Heero kicks it in...)
And we're always slipping through the cracks
(...They all pull out guns and start firing on the OZ meeting within. Quatre gave up diplomacy a while ago)
Then the movie's over -- fade to black
(The job done, they toss down the guns and saunter out, disappearing back into the darkness)
Life is a lemon and I want my money back...
back...
back...
back...

Characters of Heero, Duo, Trowa, Quatre, Wufei blah blah blah how many times do I have to write this? Well, they all belong to the creators of the GundamWing series, Sotsu Agency, Sunrise, Bandai, and whoever else in Japan involved in this most cool anime.
