Disneyland Center

(Also to be known as Downtown Disney)

This section is to be a themed promenade of shops and restaurants along Disneyland Drive, and as such will be open to the public. The purpose is to make use of the area linking the Disneyland Hotel to the Disneyland Resort Plaza in a way to further draw the public into the parks without insisting on their buying a passport.

There is some discussion as to whether this may cause problems such as those experienced by the similar area at Universal Studios, since it is likely that alcohol will be available at the restaurants. However, alcohol is readily available at the Disneyland Hotel, and nothing unusual has been noted. The difference with the Center is that it will be a draw unto itself: the amount of foot traffic is likely to be significantly higher.

See the Disneyland Hotel Renovation area of The Scoop to find out what's afoot there.

There are administrative offices in the soon-to-be-removed area, as well as the cast cafeteria, but these have already been replaced in a tawny colored, very Disneyesque new building in the rear of the Simba parking lot.
