Autopia Renovation
After Labor Day, both Autopia tracks (Tomorrowland and Fantasyland) will be closing for a reorganization and renovation.
According to Bruce Gordon (Project Director and Creative Developer for Walt Disney Imagineering), the renovated Autopia system will have the same length of track and same number of cars but will load solely from the Tomorrowland side. The idea is to better organize the operation. The new edition will also feature all-new cars, though whether the old look will be replaced by a newer model hasn't been reported.
Speaking of new editions, Gordon's excellent Disneyland history and guidebook, "The Nickel Tour", is to be published in its second edition this fall.
